The main priority of Tofaş, which handles all its activities in the context of social, environmental and economic dimensions, is to create a management model that is constantly improved and produces value.

Climate Crisis

Tofaş considers climate change as an area with a legal regulation dimension such as emission limits, a physical and operational dimension such as radical changes in weather conditions, and a financial dimension such as emissions trading.

Tofaş closely monitors the European Green Deal to integrate it into its strategy to combat climate change. Every year, emission reduction projects and reduction amounts resulting from production are verified and certified by third party organizations.

Supporting the transition to a low carbon economy with its energy efficiency efforts, Tofaş is also a corporate member of the Climate Platform. The company has signed the “2 ˚C Challenge Communiqué”, an international business statement calling for global policies and actions to combat climate change. Tofaş was also included in the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) with the application it signed in January 2023.

Tofaş aims to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions from production by 22.6% in 2026, by putting its renewable energy investments into operation by 2022.
Committed to its vision of ongoing improvement, in 2023 Tofaş launched 259 energy-efficiency projects aimed at reducing the company’s energy consumption and CO2 emissions. Through these projects, a total of 30,637 kWh in energy was saved and a 7,348-ton reduction in CO2 emissions was achieved.

Energy consumption

As a result of the efforts to reduce fixed energy consumption in line with the goal of reducing carbon emissions, Tofaş's energy consumption per vehicle in 2022 was 3.19 GJ.

Tofaş aims to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions from production by 22.6% in 2026, by putting its renewable energy investments into operation by 2022.

Sustainable, Lean and Proactive Occupational Safety Management

Occupational health and safety (OHS) ranks the first among the elements of Tofaş’s, since it is the most important one. It is also an area in many aspects of which the Tofaş plant serves as a reference model within the Stellantis community. The plant is visited by firms wishing to observe Tofaş’s OHS operations and practices in action.

Adhering to a proactive and lean approach to occupational health and safety issues, Tofaş seeks to protect everyone coming into contact with its operations from risks that could be detrimental to their health or safety by fostering a sustainable OHS culture and by creating environments that are intrinsically safe.

Tofaş makes use of an OHS Management System in order to achieve zero work-related accident and illness rates. Since the beginning of the company’s campaign to continuously improve workplace safety performance, the Lost Time Accident Rate has decreased by 90% between 2006-2026.
